Project Description
This 18,293 sf project, part of the renovation of Scarborough Town Centre, was the second Rainforest Cafe to be built in Canada and included dining and retail areas, mechanical rooms, kitchen and the balance for corridors, washrooms, offices, etc. Completed in 20-weeks, the project involved the supply and installation of many unusual elements such as two 750 U.S. gallon S-shaped aquariums and one 5,900 U.S. gallon arched aquarium complete with 150 tropical fish and 2-ton aquarium life support systems used to maintain a tropical salt water environment.
The project also included installation of a fog and rain system throughout the dining area, a waterfall and fountain feature, 1'-thick greenery ceiling above the dining and retail areas and simulated thunder and lightning effects with an aroma system blending a rainforest scent into the HVAC supply air.
